Please join UNOTI for an enlightening conversation with Dr. Robert Dupont (Chair, Dept. of History and Philosophy), Ms. Michelle Ganon (Chief of Staff and Vice President, Port of New Orleans), Mr. James Amdal (co-author of the Warehouse District Preservation/Development Plan and Assistant Professor-Research, PLUS), and Mr. Peter Webb (Ph.D. Candidate, PLUS) with moderator Dr. Bethany Stich (Director, UNOTI) as they discuss the 300 year-development of the New Orleans Riverfront.  They will trace its history starting with the original primacy of cotton to the Port of New Orleans and the inland waterway system; discuss the history of tourism in New Orleans; present the 1984 World's Fair as a catalyst for riverfront development; examine Crescent Park and its contiguous formation from the Bywater to the New Orleans Convention Center; and look at the history of the streetcar.  Finally they will provide a current state of affairs for the New Orleans Riverfront.

Refreshments will be served.
